Our Team of Healthcare Consultants
Dr. Max Rogers
Dr. Max Rogers is a key member of Afterburner's healthcare consultants. He was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, and later attended The Virginia Military Institute. After graduating from VMI, he was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps. He was selected to attend naval aviation training and after being designated a Naval Aviator, flew the F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighter out of Beaufort, South Carolina. After serving for seven years, Dr. Rogers attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his residency and internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Rogers returned to Mobile, Alabama in 1998, and entered private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is board certified, a Fellow in The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a Diplomat of The American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Rogers began combining his previous experiences in the cockpit with his experiences in his medical career, using both to concentrate on patient safety and quality improvement in women's health. As Chief of a medical staff, Dr. Rogers worked to educate 640 physicians and staff on issues of patient safety; utilizing quality improvement processes from aviation and adapting them to the medical profession - a key component in his current role working with healthcare consultants.
Dr. Rogers recognized the medical industry lacked a standardized performance improvement model. He sought a model that supported sharing lessons learned and creating a culture of collaboration across professions and levels of experience. In November 2008, Dr. Rogers attended Afterburner's Flawless Execution University and discovered what he'd been seeking. It was evident to him that the standardized performance improvement model so desperately needed in the healthcare industry is available and readily adaptable for use. Working with the Flawless Execution team, healthcare consultants, hospital staff and administrators, Afterburner Healthcare was conceived.
